About Me

Hello, everyone! My name is Samuel Smart and I am an avid writer and traveler.

I grew up in Marion, Indiana, something which my father describes as a "ghost town." I actually agree with him; there's nothing particularly special about the city home to some 30,000 people (according to the 2010 Census), other than the fact it has a few one-of-a-kind restaurants and statues of comic strip star Garfield dotting the city. I needed to break the chains and see rolling hills, mountains, and palm trees.

As much as I enjoy writing, and in hopes to be recognized as a professional writer, I credit The Weather Channel for inspiring me to become a meteorologist. I was only six years old when I caught a glimpse of meteorologists in traditional suits and ties and blouses, pointing every which way to pinpoint precipitation and fronts. I am a proud graduate of Ball State University (Charlie the Cardinal says, "Chirp! Chirp!"), with a bachelor's degree in meteorology and climatology.

I'm going to keep my vision polished and continue to write travel articles and books based on unique places I go. Just like playing music, reading and coloring with Crayolas, writing makes me feel good and it helps keep my mind off the craziness in the world we are unfortunately accustomed. Think of my blogs as a diary anyone can read. So please have fun reading and don't be afraid to comment.

Now, who's in for a bowl of frozen yogurt topped with Oreos? My treat!
